Transcendence
Transcendence is an immersive exhibit influenced by the SECASC paper on Future Patterns of Urbanization, Climate Adaptation, and Landscape Change in the Southeast U.S. In contrast to standard displays, it allows visitors to explore the factors influencing migration from coastal areas. Examining temperature, water levels, gentrification, and coastal erosion, Transcendence constructs a narrative around the theme of movement.
It goes beyond mere information, seeking to enhance understanding of climate challenges and urban shifts. Through interaction, the exhibit encourages a connection, promoting awareness of how human activities impact the future of urbanization.

Process Work
We designed this experience to be self-paced, encouraging users to actively seek information by navigating through and interacting with diverse topics related to urbanization and migration. Upon completing their journey, users will receive a visual representation of their paths and points of interaction, offering a personalized reflection on their exploration.
The inclusivity of the project is underscored by our deliberate decision not to restrict it to a particular persona, ensuring that the experience caters to individuals of all ages. This approach is informed by extensive research on exhibitions utilizing motion tracking and gestures, shaping the formulation of our design. A visit to the Durham Museum of Natural Sciences provided valuable insights into how museumgoers engage with technological exhibits in environments with minimal information. Particularly inspiring was the Luma play floor interaction, influencing the conceptualization of our floor interaction component.
